Kindle Fire HD 8.9 – The Best Tablet with the Best Price

kindle fire hd 8.9

Amazon’s Kindle is the more popular tablet on the market (beating even the iPad) with an even more unbeatable price. Don’t take my word for it. Rick, a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 user, will give you his take on Amazon’s tablet.

Enter the Kindle Fire HD.

I will spare you the story on my process of how I ended up choosing a Fire HD and get right to what you all want to know: my thoughts and experience thus far with the product.

Picture: (10/10)
I will start with this since obviously that was the first thing i noticed. In a word, incredible. Now its not “eye popping” or anything out of this world, but i can honestly say it exceeded my expectations and i was (and continue to be) impressed by this piece of hardware’s capabilities. I tested out just a few minutes of TV shows, trailers, videos, and films from Prime Instant Video, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Flixster, and Youtube (through the web browser since an app is currently unavailable) and everything looks as it should (and beautiful to boot)! Books come out crisp as well (both in text and picture) and the same goes for basic website visuals, apps, and games. Overall I am very impressed.

Sound: (10/10)
This is probably where i was most impressed. I have seen some of the reviews on here that are 3 stars or less putting down the audio or claiming they don’t hear the big deal.
Not to be a jerk or anything but i recommend those people check in at an ear clinic and have their hearing tested. I was literally amazed at how I was hearing sounds from various distances and angles. From up close it felt like i was hearing a high quality home theater system and not just for one flick but everything. From website audio to music, Netflix to Audiobooks, this tablet sounds great!

Book/Reading Features: (10/10)
At first this was not my primary reason for purchasing a Fire HD, but after toying around with a few things, I am truly impressed at how well Amazon has integrated the ability to find, purchase, read, and even listen to literature. The lending library for Prime users is a nice added touch allowing you to borrow from a rather extensive list of books. Continue reading

Apple MacBook Air Laptop with Retina Display

9418688_xxlg_1

If their ever was a product to define the slim notebook it would be the Apple Macbook Air. The first iteration revealed less than 5 years ago was a beautiful though under powered ultra thin laptop that mesmerized audiences. Fast forward to 2012 and the Apple Macbook is still as slim and light as ever but it is not an extremely powerful laptop with an industry leading Retina display. The 2880 x 1800 is the highest resolution I have ever seen in a laptop. The screen is bright, the colors are perfect, and it is really a sight to behold. The rest of the laptop isn’t slacking with an Intel i5 or i7 processor depending on the model, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB SSD hardrive, and 2 3.0 USB ports. Apple laptops are perfect for the digital photography and artists. All this finely crafted technology obviously comes with a price but since I’m the kind of guy always looking for a deal I have scoured the internet to fine the best prices on the Apple Macbook Air. Macmall has every version of the Macbook Air for prices that are much lower than every else on the internet. Starting at around $1600 you can get the Macbook Air and usher in the new year with style.

Best Buy Toshiba Laptop Deal for Under $300

Lenovo Laptop

I just spotted a great deal on a laptop at bestbuy.com. Best Buy has a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with a 15.6″ screen, 2GB of RAM, and 320 GB harddrive for only $269 and free shipping. It is powered my an AMD Fusion processor which is plenty fast for word documents, web surfing, and even some gaming. I got to test drive it at a local store and this thing flies. The display is top notch at this price and the keyboard feels very nice. The satin black makes this laptop look gives this $269 laptop a nice premium look. This cheap but powerful laptop is perfect for a second or third computer. I am definitely grabbing one for niece since she’ll be heading to college soon. If you are looking for a laptop for the holiday season or the future I highly suggest jumping on this deal. I am always looking for deals and this is my laptop deal for the month. It is not often you see such a feature packed laptop at under $300. Happy Holidays.

ARM’s biggest obstacle to netbook domination is compatibility

ARM-logo

ARM in the last 5 years has gone from a little British semi-conductor company that no one, besides techies, knew about to a little British semi-conductor company that a lot more people know about (with a bigger market cap to boot). ARM’s chips power almost every smartphone in the world and the majority of tablets. Now they have their eyes a little higher and the thinking is that ARM will begin to dominate the netbook segment. Amazon Kindle Fire HD Review – iPad killer?

If you are like me and love to read then a Kindle Fire HD is for you. In addition to reading you can also listen to music or watch a movie.  Released a little over 3 months ago, it has become so very popular. It is quite similar to the Kindle eBook reader from Amazon. Yet the Kindle Fire is a tablet computer version of it and is even more compact and user friendly. The days are definitely gone when you had to carry all those cumbersome books around with you when wanted to read. Paying outrageous prices for books at the store that you would read in a day or two. If you were like me, I tried to bypass these costs by going to the local library. I could then never find the most recent popular books that I wanted. It got to the point where I wasn’t enjoying reading anymore, yet this Kindle Fire has brought back that excitement of reading to me once again.  Continue reading
